Wall Street Poet
Michael Silverstein's
Satirical Verse |
|
|

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post
"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

A Wall Streeter Explains The Way Markets
Were Run Up Until The Bottom Fell Out
And the Consequences That Followed
To Make the biggest payday bucks
And bonuses high figured
We peddled new-style assets
That creatively were jiggered.
We sliced them, diced them, overpriced them
Served them up with lots of sizzle
Unrolled, extolled and oversold them
Claimed that they could never fizzle.
To manage these confections' risks
We bound them in well packaged lumps
Then gloated as these bloat boats floated
Taking endless pricing jumps.
No critic sniping stemmed our hyping
'Sted critics joined in our game
No groan or moan come when critics own
Their pieces of a Ponzi shame.
The bubble grew, the bubble popped
Values teetered, then they plopped
And when 'twas done, came the usual ending
We players were rich, the played begged for mending.
