After watching the Wall Street rollercoaster in recent months, many people might find the sentiments in this little sonnet very apt.
Wall Street
Wall Street, a place of cons and schemes,
And fortunes built on doctored dreams,
And fees and spreads and in-bred cronies,
I counted fifteen thousand phonies.
The SEC patrols these parts,
Attempts to curb its slicker arts,
With numrous regs, it seeks to beat
The crimes and shams that fest The Street.
Such efforts, though, can neer succeed,
While there the ruling creed is greed.
