While Main Street grapples with its economic woes, the Wall Street crowd is richer than ever — the same crowd that did so much to cause Main Street's pain. After a brief spending hiatus, out of fear a still growing wealth gap might generate unwanted reprisals, Wall Streeters again feel comfortable enough to splurge on luxury goods, the most expensive real estate, the priciest works of art.

Wall Street Back
On Spending Track

We couldn't too openly frolic,
With the money we make on The Street,
'Cause the public's vociferous colic,
Made it seem wise to play it discreet.

The months of forced limited spending,
From fear 'twould bring down snarl and taunt,
And pretending our ways we were mending
Left a deep appetite to binge flaunt.

Now the furor has finally abated,
Our Washington ties we've renewed,
Our consumption again is A-rated,
While the rest of you? Well, you're still screwed.

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today
