A Dyspeptic's Guide To Contemporary American Politics (In Verse)

Fifteen Feet Beneath Manhattan by Michael Silverstein

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

The United Airlines’
Get-Out-Of-Debt-Free Poem

United Airlines has a plan
To flee from bankruptcy,
To ease the heavy burdens of
Excess insolvency.

It’s really quite a cunning plan
To boost its own retentions;
The company will merely stop
Contributing to pensions.

"But wait," you say, "that isn’t right,"
Who’ll pay those pensioned duffers?"
"Why Uncle Sam," comes the reply,
"Will see that no one suffers."

‘Cause Sam the Man’s responsible
When there’s a sudden halt
In the payments made to pensioners
Sam’s stuck with the default.

So here’s the moral for you folks
With crushing pers’nal debt:
Get government to pay your bills,
Make Sam your safety net.
