A Dyspeptic's Guide To Contemporary American Politics (In Verse)

Fifteen Feet Beneath Manhattan by Michael Silverstein

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective.That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

About Silverstein's Verse

Extend tax breaks for everyone, or only for the 98 percent of middle class and poorer earners? How about a third choice? Take away bigger tax breaks from the top 2 percent, then rather than sending off the money generated to the Treasury, allocate it to the 98 percent who need it badly and will spend it in ways that really boost the economy.

The Third Way Tax Break Poem

Today's debate, tax benefits.
The current Beltway play;
The question is who'll keep more cash,
Who'll see more taxed away.

The rich must keep their tax breaks, too,
Their spokesmen loudly bray;
We need their extra spending
In this long recession day.

But ask the 98 percent
And here is what they'd say:
"You want a bigger spending boost:
Then send their share our way."
