A Dyspeptic's Guide To Contemporary American Politics (In Verse)

Fifteen Feet Beneath Manhattan by Michael Silverstein

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today
More Of What The Critics Are Saying
About Silverstein's Verse

A recent poll found that 81 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with the way our government is being run and with the people who are running it. A perfect scenario for a third party entrant into the 2012 presidential race? Yes, except....

A Potential Third Party
Candidate Steps Back

Its true that in so many ways I lack qualifications,
I've never held a public post, nor run huge corporations,
Nor did my country's soldiering, nor its foreign ventures steer,
Nor hosted my own TV show, I'm not a billionaire.

But looking at Republicans, at the crew that's in their field,
Leftovers, ranting ideologues, not a likely winner yield,
And the Democrats' own White House guy, though not a total bust,
Is someone even Democrats no longer really trust.

Its an open race for anyone who says "I'm the outsider,"
Who claims "I've got the perfect plan, I'm the healer, not divider,"
So I could jump in easily, 't'would be fun and amuse,
The reason I won't do it, though, cause heck, I might not lose.
