Wall Street Poet
Michael Silverstein's
Satirical Verse |
|
|

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post
"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

After being downgraded to junk by Standard & Poor a few weeks back, GMs bonds have now been similarly downgraded by Fitch. In lieu of regaining market share (which seems unlikely), the company may consider an alternative course of action...
Squeeze
(A GM poem in the style
of Joyce Kilmers "Trees")
You want your assets to accrue,
Then GM paper aint for you.
Poor GMs in a credit squeeze,
Its junk bond rating doesnt please.
Investors have a growing fear,
A crisis may be drawing near.
That imports from the Japanese,
Will just grow worse and never ease.
There now appears but one solution:
Uniteds road to absolution.
Forget outmoded good intentions.
Stiff your workforce, dump their pensions.
