In almost every organization theres one person whose diligence and quiet efficiency make everything happen. A person who nonetheless rarely rises very high on the corporate ladder. This is her poemas Lord Byron might have written it, had he been more attuned to doings in the workplace.
She Comes To Work At
Dawns First Light
She comes to work at dawns first light
And stays long after darkness falls;
She never shirks from deadlines tight
Or passes on the hardest hauls;
To make dumb projects turn out right
She always knows the best cure-alls.
Its not the pay, not power lust
That keeps her focused on her tasks;
An inner voice shes learned to trust
Is the cocoon in which she basks;
To lesser goals she wont adjust,
Her love of best is no mere mask.
All managers well know her type,
They seek it out and secret gloat;
No burden wrings from her a gripe,
She bears the load as they showboat;
While others bubble up on hype
Its her that keeps the boat afloat.
