A Dyspeptic's Guide To Contemporary American Politics (In Verse)

Fifteen Feet Beneath Manhattan by Michael Silverstein

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

About Silverstein's Verse

Our trade deficits are running in excess of $40 billion a month. But hey, why sweat the little things...

On Record U.S.
Trade Deficits

Some economists are worried
We buy lots more than we sell,
But I figure, just enjoy it
Big imbalance, what the hell.

We’re the universal market
All must peddle products here,
Slowing down of our consumption
Is what others have to fear.

Deficits are only numbers,
Makes no difference how they’re skewed;
All the world must earn our dollars,
They complain, it’s them that’s screwed.

Some may think that in the long run
This is crazy and we’ll pay,
But since lives are lived in short runs,
Carpe imports while ye may.
