A Dyspeptic's Guide To Contemporary American Politics (In Verse)

Fifteen Feet Beneath Manhattan by Michael Silverstein

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today
More Of What The Critics Are Saying
About Silverstein's Verse

President Obama just made the same old "hard choice" - between a more stringent air quality standard and jobs that would supposedly be lost if this standard were adopted. Of course, such a "hard choice" is a canard. Most environmental regulations not only save huge amounts of money on health costs, they actually create more jobs than they destroy. Four decades after such regulations began being adopted, you'd think pols would have noticed this rather obvious fact...

The Old Environment Or
Economy False Choice

Regulations curb employment
Claim conservative nabobs,
When you tighten up the former
They say it means less jobs.

Though regs foster innovation,
And pollution clean up spending,
Causing clean up firms to hire,
'Bout reg bashing there's no ending.

So our air will get more dirty
While pols ponder false old choices,
And debate a phony issue
Fueled by shrill well-funded voices.
