There’s No Place
Like Home

Though in many world markets I daily do roam,
When it comes to investments, there’s no place like home.
The roof may be leaking, the kitchen a mess,
But the write-offs abound at this dinky address.
Home, home, a real estate throne,
My live-in tax shelter, there’s no place like home.

The down payment’s small so the lev’rage is great,
Inflation makes my equity escalate.
I can spiff it or trash it, whatever my need,
Because there’s no landlord who’s holding the deed.
Home, home, a real estate throne,
Gracious or tasteless, there’s no place like home.

With each mortgage payment, more values accrue,
And if I need cash I can refinance, too.
The IRS thinks that my attic’s an office
I rent out the basement on lease terms amorphous.
Home, home, a real estate throne,
This asset’s a gold mine, there’s no place like home.
