Some New
Market Limericks

Though for most of us things seem much dimmer
In Washington they see a glimmer
Getting us to feel good
In the 'hood like we should
Keeps social unrest on low simmer.

***

For awhile new investment in banks
Was something done only by cranks
'Til Sam made it clear
Bank losses he'd bear
With bailouts that stopped banking tanks.

***

Credit card issuers play the pig
With a system they took pains to rig
Higher rates and new fees
These trough feeders please
As they endlessly jack up the vig.

***

Outsiders may think there's some onus
In getting a huge Wall Street bonus
But the getters can bear it
Indeed they don't fear it
They laugh: "Let 'em verbally stone us."

***

While economists have been devising
Theories that things are now stabilizing
Job numbers ain't growing
Foreclosures keep flowing
So I find this thinking surprising.

***

For months bonds low rated pure junk
Traded like the proverbial skunk
Still to earn high return
Traders now caution spurn
And again pretend junk's a slam dunk.

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today
