A Dyspeptic's Guide To Contemporary American Politics (In Verse)

Fifteen Feet Beneath Manhattan by Michael Silverstein

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today
More Of What The Critics Are Saying
About Silverstein's Verse

Most Democrats and Republicans finally agree on something. Both seem determined that Hillary Clinton top the Democratic ticket in 2008. Republicans know she's their only hope for victory that year. And democrats, well, Democrats are so immersed in Clinton cultism that common sense, or indeed, concern to the future welfare of their country, seem irrelevant...

The Hillary Poem

The Dems just love their sufferin',
Feel good 'bout getting beat,
It gives them such a martyr's rush,
The pain of loss so sweet.

So come '08 election time,
The candidate they'll choose,
Is sure to be the only one,
Who has a chance to lose.

Republicans of course know this,
They love the choice of Hillary,
A perfect target for Rove's crew,
Someone who's ripe for pillory.

Half truths, mean slurs, some outright lies,
Their game plan's fixed in place,
They'll blur the real issues,
And froth up their 'values' base.

And when the dirty deed is done,
And pundits duly jiggered,
The Dems will spout their usual,
Hey man...who coulda figured?
