The Health Cost Merry-Go-Round

Many states around the nation
Face a budget situation
Forcing them to do a fade
When it comes to Medicaid.

ERs must pick up this slack
Though resources they may lack;
Hospitals can't dodge the cost
Of new patients they've been tossed.

Their bottom lines to help restore,
Hospitals must others gore;
Where to look in health care's market?
Insurers are their chosen target.

Insurers to meet profit goals,
Raise their fees, which shrinks their rolls;
Drop outs who can't pay this fee
When they're sick to ERs flee.

This pass along, this circle wend,
There is no doubt where it will end;
Forget fond hopes 'bout where its headed,
To rationing this game is wedded.
