Am I the only one who understands that a country whose economy is debt sodden and sputtering can't afford a bloated military engaged in foolish and monstrously expensive foreign adventures?
Guns, Butter, Penury
A country can fund lots more perks
By turning soldiers into mercs
Who seize all of the wealth it needs
To meet all of its quirks and greeds.
And there will be the dough to spare
The merc's own costs to pay, no fear
Long wars need not make lands bereft
When wars are played as grift and theft.
But war games can turn quickly sour
A nation's prospects turn real dour
When wars abet an empty purse
Atop a homeland's debtor curse.
What kind of blindness can not see
Unneeded wars spawn penury
The choice is clear, pick guns or butter
Health car and jobs, or jingo mutter.
