There’s a lot of talk these days about a Bush legacy. In the economic realm, along with a huge increase in public debt and Cheney-inspired energy policies, the best remembered element of this legacy is likely to be a truly awesome intensification of what has come to be known as “class warfare.”

By a growing class-based schism;
While the less -than-rich get poorer
Rich folks lives get more couturer.
From a fight ‘gainst poverty
Officialdom’s been quick to flee;
Now have-nots on less wealth sup
‘Cause we practice tickle up.
Where’s the honor in the end
To be called ‘the rich man’s friend’?
What a note in history.
What a shoddy legacy.
