A Dyspeptic's Guide To Contemporary American Politics (In Verse)

Fifteen Feet Beneath Manhattan by Michael Silverstein

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

About Silverstein's Verse

Big, Bad Rahm

When coming back to Washington, Rahm brought a fearful rep
Both friend and foe said with this guy you'd better watch your step
Progressives in his party, too, thought maybe now at last
Some special interests who'd run wild would learn their time had past.

But health insurers met with Rahm and felt no great unease
He didn't make real tough demands, did not apply the squeeze
He simply asked, this time around, no Harry and Louise
Instead of confrontation he was happy to appease.

The same approach was much on view with Wall Streeters he met
One day these greedy naughty boys would pay the price, you bet
But a friendly Rahm decided that this time had not come yet
After all they'd paid their party dues, so he owed this gang a debt.

Most days Rahm's bad boy image seemed mislabeled, unimpressive
Except with party regulars who styled themselves progressive
With them he was as tough as nails, both surly and aggressive
And soon in Chi-Town Rahm may find, their payback most distressive.
