A Dyspeptic's Guide To Contemporary American Politics (In Verse)

Fifteen Feet Beneath Manhattan by Michael Silverstein

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective.That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

About Silverstein's Verse

"Goober Peas," a favorite song of confederate soldiers during the Civil War, was a tongue in cheek commentary on something decent soldiers should not have had to eat so often. I changed the wording here, to create a commentary on banking fees that decent foks shouldn't have to pay as often as they now do.....

Bankin' Fees

Fees! fees! fees! fees!
Payin' bankin' fees,
Goodness, what a rip-off,
All them bankin' fees

Merchants went to congress, made their money plead,
Save us from the bankers, their gross excessive greed;
The bankers merely looked around for someone else to sleaze,
Goodness what a rip-off, all them bankin' fees

Fees! fees! fees! fees!
Payin' bankin' fees,
Goodness, what a rip-off,
All them bankin' fees

Cutting back on spending, trying real hard,
Didn't think about it, used my debit card;
They hit me with a monthly charge, a nickel diming squeeze,
Goodness what a rip-off, all them bankin' fees.

Fees! fees! fees! fees!
Payin' bankin' fees,
Goodness, what a rip-off,
All them bankin' fees.
