Wall Street Poet
Michael Silverstein's
Satirical Verse |
|
|

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post
"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

American Shopper
American shopper, you got endless needs
American shopper, needs that profit feeds
Got to get the best cheap buy
Get it all before you die
Miss a sale and you go freak
Pay retail and life is bleak
Pay retail and life is bleak
American shopper, heard the Christmas call
American shopper, stormed your local mall
Youre a hero market god
Got a brand new credit card
Elmo, plasma tubes for you
Other options wouldnt do
Too quick for the other guy
Stuck a finger in his eye
American shopper, filled with shopper rage
American shopper, in consumings cage
Closets full of silly things
Debt for all those long gone flings
Servicing those old card bills
Giving you the monthly chills
Master Charge and Visa shills
Tweak you good to fill their tills
American shopper
