Narcissism
By Christopher Kendals
Doesn't really matter anymore
As if this was charity
Like placing a quarter in everyone's parking meter
Everyone wants to be loved
Everyone deserves someone
Can fathom what I'm doing out here
When it's all so perfect
The cat has your tongue
Question what you're even doing there
In search for chemistry
It may all work out perfectly in the end
Some people are beautiful
Some people simply have a beautiful mind
I call that synchronization
Because intelligence doesn't really work for me
And when there's no confusion
The possibilities are endless
But when there's scrutiny
You continue to run into dead ends
You want to get inside
You want to explore worlds
Find out what makes it work
You want to watch it for yourself
As a result of who they know you to be
Not so much what you've done
My hands are filthy
It's too easy for us to simply mirror each other
Do I have to look for you all of the time
Or are you there without my ever having to say anything
Can you find me when I want to be found?
I'll open that door before you even decide to go through
Witness diverse displays of architecture
And none of the buildings are even functional
And I'm sick of staring at these walls myself
In a hall of mirrors just to see my reflection
Questionable because I figured that you would be here
Am I still a guest or am I taken for granted??
The time runs out
Pay your tickets or go to court

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post
"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today
