GOODNIGHT SROP
by Prof. Seth E. Lipner

It was late one night, and I was reading new rules
On the FINRA web site - it has lots of tools

And what I read caused my jaw to just drop
They’ve eliminated - are you ready - the SROP and the CROP!

Supervision and Compliance - they once were two things
So there were two designations - and “co-option kings”

But the reality was that one guy had both names
And the conversations between them were often quite lame

“Should we approve it?” the SROP asked the CROP
But there was no answer; this talk had to stop

So now there’s one title - just one registration
It all seemed quite logical, but I have hesitation

The new initials, you see,
are R, O, S, F and P*

Now that sure doesn't rhyme
It lacks meter and time,

And how should it sound?
Like a soldier, or hound?

So it won’t be too long till the folks all say “stop!”
Please bring back the days of the SROP and the CROP

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post

"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today
