Great Dead Poets' Financial Verse

Classic Poems With Contemporary Financial Market Meanings

Although there’s never been a formal discipline called financial poetry or financial verse, the relationship between money, markets, and the rest of life has certainly been commented upon frequently by poets past—usually in a jaundiced manner. In this section, we look at a few great works that fall into this category.

Visitors will notice that none of the poems here are of recent vintage. And this in spite of the fact that starting with the "Beats" in the 1950s, a lot of very good recent poetry has lambasted market greed and mindless consumption. We’d love to reproduce some of this excellent work. Alas, because of copyright considerations, that’s not possible.
